Pricing

How your price is set

  1. Every mandatory fee is in the range

Published prices include every mandatory fee, travel included.

  2. Priced on the size of the job

Your quote is priced on the sizes you give us. If the crew finds the job bigger or smaller, the price changes to match, and you see it before any work starts.

  3. Itemized and in writing

Your quote arrives within 24 hours of seeing the job: the scope, the prep, the paint by brand and line, the price plus HST, and the dates.

  4. The paint is named, not just “premium”

The brand and line of every paint go in your quote, so you know exactly what goes on your walls.

  5. 20% books your dates

The rest is due an hour before the job is finished.

  6. Small jobs are priced up front too

The minimum job is $750 + HST (one crew-day), stated before you book anything.

What should a painting quote include?

Ask for each of these in writing, from any painter you're comparing.

  1. The scope, room by room and surface by surface
  2. The prep: cleaning, patching, sanding and priming
  3. The paint brand and product line
  4. The number of coats
  5. The price, with HST shown separately
  6. Start and finish dates
  7. The deposit, the payment schedule and your cancellation rights
  8. A written workmanship warranty
  9. A WSIB clearance certificate and a certificate of insurance

Good to know

How does a published range become your price?

Your written quote sets your price. Until then, the published ranges and the estimator give you a ballpark.

  1. See your range. The estimator places your job within its published range from a few answers, in about a minute. Then send photos: a crew lead quotes from them.
  2. A crew lead looks it over. Your photos and sizes checked, along with every surface and its repairs. We come to see the job when photos aren't enough, when it's a big one, or once you're going ahead.
  3. Written, itemized quote. It arrives within 24 hours of seeing the job, with the scope, the prep, the paint by brand and line, the price plus HST, the dates, and any surface the warranty can't cover.

You book your start date once the quote is in hand, and the seven steps take it from there. A 20% deposit books your dates, and the rest is due an hour before the job is finished.

Your sizes and what the crew lead sees decide where your job sits in its range. Two bedrooms can share one price row and still differ in ceiling height, repairs and colour change. The quote prices your rooms as they are, on the sizes you give us. If the crew finds the job bigger or smaller, the price changes to match, and you see the new price before any work starts.

Rows marked as quoted, such as staircases, stucco and popcorn ceilings, have no published amount. Their price turns on details that have to be seen, so it comes in the written quote once we've seen them.

Can several small jobs share one minimum charge?

Yes. The minimum job is $750 + HST, one crew-day, and small jobs booked into the same visit share it. A bedroom's walls start from $450, so one bedroom booked alone is billed at no less than the minimum.

Grouping lets that crew-day cover more of your list. Each added part is priced from its own row, or quoted with the job, and the total is never less than the minimum. What fits in one day depends on sizes and condition, so ask the crew lead when you send your photos.

Our post on why painters have a minimum charge lists the small jobs that pair well.

How do you add up the price of a whole project?

Add the published row for each part of the job. These two examples use only rows from this page, before HST, with every mandatory fee included.

ProjectPublished rows addedTotal, before HST
A 2-bedroom condo and its kitchen cabinetsCondo, 2-bedroom, plus kitchen cabinets, most kitchens$5,000–$12,300
The inside of a 3-bedroom home and its kitchen cabinets3-bedroom home, whole interior, plus kitchen cabinets, most kitchens$8,000–$18,000

The estimator takes every part of a project at once, and your answers place the total within these ranges. Your photos and the written quote then settle it. Your itemized quote shows each part, so you can see what each one adds, and 13% HST goes on top.

Both examples come in over $2,500, so either would include a free 30-minute colour consult with a crew lead. The cabinets would carry a 2-year finish warranty, and the rest of the interior a 5-year one.

Questions

Questions GTA homeowners ask

Are your prices before or after HST?

Before HST. Our published prices include every mandatory fee, travel included.

What if the sizes I give you are wrong?

Your quote is priced on the sizes you give us. If the crew finds the job bigger or smaller, the price changes to match. You see the new price before any work starts.

When do I pay?

20% books your dates once you have the written quote. The rest is due an hour before the job is finished.

Yes. Every price includes two coats of the paint named in your quote, along with the prep and the daily cleanup.

What is the smallest job you take on?

The minimum job is $750 + HST, which covers one crew-day. Grouping small jobs into one visit, such as a room, some trim and a few drywall repairs, makes the most of it.

What does your written quote include?

The scope and the sizes it's priced on, the prep, the paint named by brand and line, the price plus HST, the dates, and any surface the warranty can't cover. It arrives within 24 hours of seeing the job.
