Terms of Service
The terms for using greatnorthpainting.com, and how our quotes, payments, cancellations and warranty work.

About these terms
These terms apply when you use greatnorthpainting.com. The site is run by Great North Painting, a painting company based in North York, Toronto, Ontario.
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. You can still reach us by phone, text or email.
These terms cover the website, and they explain how our quotes, payments, cancellations and warranty work. Each job is governed by your written quote, the contract you sign and our written warranty. Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under Ontario's consumer protection law.
What the site is for
The site gives information about our painting services, our published prices and how we work. It also lets you ask for a price range, a written quote or a reply.
Please use it for those purposes only. Do not try to break it, overload it, send spam through its forms, or collect other people's information from it.
Prices and estimates on the site
Prices on the site are published ranges for the current year, before HST. They include every mandatory fee.
The online estimator gives a ballpark range. It is worked out from our published prices and the answers you give. It is not a quote, an offer or a contract.
Your price is set by the written, itemized quote we send you. It is priced on the sizes you give us, usually from your photos; we visit when a job needs it. If the estimator's range and your written quote differ, the written quote is the one that counts.
If the crew finds the job bigger or smaller than the sizes in your quote, the price changes to match, and we show you the new price before any work starts. Ontario law does not let us charge more than 10% over a written estimate unless you agree, so the work goes ahead only at a price you have agreed to.
Jobs smaller than one crew-day are billed at our minimum job amount, which is shown on the site.
We update published prices from time to time. A quote you have already received in writing stays as written for the period stated on it.
Payments
Our usual schedule is a 20% deposit to book your dates, and the rest an hour before the job is finished. Your written quote sets out the payments for your job, and we give you a receipt for each one.
Cancelling a job
If you sign a renovation or repair contract worth 50 dollars or more at your home, you have a cooling-off period of 10 calendar days. Within those 10 days you can cancel for any reason, with no cancellation fee. If you asked us to start during those 10 days and then cancel, you pay a reasonable amount for the work and materials already provided.
If we haven't started within 30 days of the start date in your contract, or a later date you agreed to in writing, you can cancel at any time before we start.
To cancel, tell us in writing, for example by email to info@greatnorthpainting.com. When you cancel under these rights, we refund what you have paid within 15 days. Outside them, your written contract sets out what happens if you cancel. Ontario's guide to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act explains them in full.
What you send us
When you use a form, please give accurate details. When you text or email us photos, send only ones you have the right to send: photos of your own home, or of a property you are allowed to get a quote for.
We use what you send to reply and to prepare your quote. Our privacy policy explains how we handle it. We do not publish your photos without your written consent.
Our warranty
Our workmanship warranty is a written document. It covers every surface your quote accepts; the quote names any surface it doesn't, and why. You receive the warranty at the final walkthrough, and it applies once the job is paid in full. The warranty page describes it, but the written warranty you are given is the one that applies to your job.
The warranty is in addition to your rights under Ontario law. Those include the Consumer Protection Act's rule that our services must be of a reasonably acceptable quality, which no warranty or agreement can take away.
Our content
The text, photos, logo and design on this site belong to Great North Painting or are used with permission. You may view and print pages for your own use. Please do not copy, republish or sell them without asking us first.
"Great North Painting" and our logo identify our business. Please do not use them in a way that suggests we are connected with something we are not.
Links to other sites
The site links to other sites, such as government pages. We link to them because they are useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they say or how they handle your information.
Accuracy and availability
We work to keep the site accurate and up to date. Painting information on the site, including our guides and posts, is general. It is not advice about your particular home, and it does not replace a crew lead's look at it.
We may change, pause or remove parts of the site at any time. We do not promise that the site will always be available or free of errors.
Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Great North Painting is not responsible for losses that come from using the site, from relying on general information on it, or from the site being unavailable.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer protection law that cannot be limited by agreement.
If something goes wrong
Tell us first, by phone, text or email, and we will try to put it right. If we can't agree, you can take a complaint to the province: the Ontario guide linked above explains how.
Law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated terms apply. A change never alters a quote or contract you have already signed.
