Great North Painting builds this site to WCAG 2.2 AA. How we test it, and how to reach us if anything is hard to use.

We want everyone to be able to use greatnorthpainting.com, including people who use a screen reader, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, voice control or reduced motion.

Our standard

We build and test this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requires WCAG 2.0 AA from organizations with 50 or more employees. We hold the whole site to the newer standard regardless of our size.

What that means in practice

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
  • Text and buttons meet WCAG contrast ratios.
  • Images that carry information have text alternatives.
  • If your device asks for reduced motion, animations become simple fades.
  • Looping videos longer than five seconds have a pause control.
  • Forms label every field and explain errors in words, not colour alone.

How we check

Before every release, automated tests check our key pages against WCAG 2.2 AA on desktop and on mobile, and check that the menus work from the keyboard alone.
